NAWBO Goes International

This fall, NAWBO officials including President Cynthia McClain-Hill and Director Lisa Kaiser Hickey attended the Les Femmes Chefs d'Enterprises Mondiales (World Association of Women Entrepreneurs) 56th World Congress in Brussels.

Through NAWBO’s partnership with FCEM, the organization’s reach now stretches to more than 60 countries across the world, committed to engaging and encouraging international exchanges and partnerships to ensure the integration and progress of women-owned entrepreneurs in the increasingly dynamic global economy.

“The FCEM Conference was a vital opportunity for NAWBO to strengthen its partnership with FCEM and re-affirm its commitment to the growth of women-owned businesses – wherever they may be,” said Ms. McClain-Hill.

“The conference drew hundreds of highly accomplished and inspirational women entrepreneurs and I look forward to NAWBO’s partnership with FCEM only continuing to grow stronger.”

The growth and advancement of international business opportunities is key for NAWBO members: In a survey earlier this year of NAWBO members, nearly 1,000 reported doing business internationally, with 43 percent of those saying they are involved in both importing and exporting.

NAWBO’s engagement at this year’s FCEM World Association of Women Entrepreneurs’ 56th World Congress continues to demonstrate the strong commitment to furthering international diversity, cooperation and partnerships to accelerate the growth and prosperity of women-owned businesses across the globe.

International markets are an important opportunity to continue to propel the growth of women-owned businesses, with 15 percent of NAWBO members surveyed saying they are extremely or very interested in doing business internationally.

Toward that end, NAWBO’s International Forum works to enhance wealth-creating capacity by exploring opportunities in the global marketplace, identifying opportunities for members to take leadership roles in the international business community, and building strategic alliances with international organizations.

And NAWBO will be emphasizing the international connection of women business owners this June at its annual conference Women’s Business Conference. NAWBO is working to open the conference to FCEM and international women business owners to forge the pathway for the success of women-owned businesses around the globe.
